  • I am fascinated by the artwork in this volume -- totally fascinated.  What does it do for you?  Put you off?  Turn you on?  Disturb you?  How do you find that it relates to the artwork in earlier volumes?

    We will see many forms of the Three Ladies we have already met so many times.  Take note of their relationships to the Endless, to mortals, to gods, to dreams.

    How does the title apply this time around?

    Dream's relationship to his responsibilities has defined his character -- though he does seem to be evolving.  At least his friends have been saying so for the last eight books.  What are his responsibilities now?  What is his relationship to them?  Has he changed?

    Who really causes the events in this book?  There are a few different suspects.

    Note the themes of eyes and seeing and differences in perception.
  • The John Webster quote at the beginning has a sense of wistfulness, of longing. Where else is this seen in the book, in both dialogue as well as artwork?

    What do you learn about Cain and Abel's relationship in this book?

    Ah, the ravens. Was their presence effective? What did you think of their interaction with Matthew?

    Was is the importance of visitors, and being a visitor?
