Questions for Volume IV: Season of Mists
Here are reading and discussion questions to think about while reading Sandman Vol. IV: Season of Mists.
Keep them non-spoilery questions if you please!
We'll discuss this volume starting on the weekend of March 15-16.
Some thoughts to start:
We get our first good glimpse of the whole family together here (most of them, anyway). How irritating would it be exactly to have Destiny as an older sibling and Desire as a younger sibling? Scale of 1-10.
What is the real function of hell, both in the series and as an element of popular mythos/religion? How are people punished there, truly?
To which delegation of gods do you think you belong?

What standard mythological idea(s) does the author now turn inside out and upside down in Vol IV?
Is this the first time we see how drastically the Endless
can change? One has gone missing forever, and another has changed her nature
entirely. What does it mean for Delight to become Delirium? Obviously, humans
are still capable of feeling delight, so why did she change, and what does that
say about both delight and delirium?
We are all bound by our obligations, but are those bonds of
our own choosing? Is freedom the best thing, or are some bonds better or more
right than pure freedom?
Why do we hold on to toxic relationships and behaviours that
only destroy us?
